The Endless Wait

The child shut within the gate,

Craves to be out at any rate;

His timid parents keep him tight,

And tell him he is yet to wait,

The youth yearns for a date,

With a dame as his mate;

But morals deny him the right

And his feelings are yet to wait

Past all those years of hate

Now grown up and a man by fate;

Everything seems far too late

A better time for again to wait!

I have had a different wait,

Falling for a sweetened bait;

Now without a way out of it,

Having am I an endless wait!
